Voyager

This book is the reminder that Gabaldon is a stereotypical white woman boomer with all the unnecessary body shaming/fatphobic comments and weird racial stereotypes. Every time there was a random unnecessary comment about someone’s body I deducted .25 stars. The character of Mr Willoughby..some of the most offensive things I’ve ever read. Just because it’s historical fiction doesn’t mean your characters have to emulate the values of the time!!!

So slow compared to the first two that it was a struggle to stay engaged. This felt like a chore to get through. The pacing was all over the place and there was way more unnecessary detail than normal in these books. The ultimate climax of the book and when it finally got good again was too rushed as well!

Other random thoughts I had throughout the book:

- Why am I reading about Jamie/Claire reading bodice ripper novels…there’s so much unnecessary shit in this one compared to others making it harder to get through
-I understand the Roger hate now

-Really hated Jamie raping Geneva like my dude you being a victim doesn’t excuse that behavior
-OMG EW GROSS WHY ARE WE SEXUALIZING BREASTFEEDING

I’ll still continue with the series since I own up to book 5 and I’m curious/hopeful the others won’t be this bad. I hope the body shaming doesn’t continue otherwise I will be peacing out of this series.
