Stay With Me
by Ayobámi Adébáyo
The characters were complex and their stories so beautifully written. I became invested in how things would turn out, although I did guess some of the plot twists it was still very enjoyable.
The story of love, grief, secrets, and motherhood are set against coups and the political strife of Nigeria. It made me really curious about the country’s history and gave context to the tension these characters were experiencing both in their environment and at home.
I also enjoyed the aspects of Nigerian mythology and classic childhood stories weaved into this book. It’s such a beautiful, heartbreaking book.
