Annie John

I enjoyed the beginning of the book but the second half was a struggle to get through. The writing became more telling over showing and repetitive. It lacked the emotional depth I expect from coming of age stories and I wish we had gone deeper into Annie John’s relationship with her mother and emotions in general. I did enjoy learning more about Antigua and the life on the island though!
