Overall it’s a great book that I thoroughly enjoyed and would recommend to anyone who: enjoys character driven novels, complicated characters who you will both love and hate, switching POVs, or if you are/were an expat!

It was a nice plot and a quick read but overall I was disappointed and left wanting more from the story.

If you enjoyed The Familiars, Jane Eyre, or books set in the 17th century then I think you’ll enjoy this one. Also the cover is just gorgeous!

My rating may change over time but I definitely recommend it, if you like lots of character development, spanning of timelines, historical fiction, or fantasy.

A perfect book for people who love mythology retellings.

Overall, interesting story and I learned a lot about the historical context. However, the repeated sentences (and sometimes even whole paragraphs) were irritating at times.

I recommend this book with a grain of salt. Yes, it’s important to read the real stories of such events and to remind you about how precious life is. However, if you’re in a dark place from suffering a loss recently or for any other reason that causes you to suffer from depression; don’t read this yet.

A cute, lighthearted read perfect for spring or summer reading!
