Dragonfruit
Fun adventure with unique world building including myths and tales of the pacific islands! I really loved the lore presented in the beginning of the book and learning about the sea dragons.
Although it’s marketed as a romantic fantasy the romance is very very minor and only barely hinted at so don’t go in expecting that. Personally for me I’m glad the romance wasn’t a focus because I had a different ship in mind.
As the story went on, I started to get bored and slightly frustrated with the sentence structure and a dialogue. They became more noticeably choppy and stilted, feeling unnatural and definitely made the book feel like a book more suited for the younger range of YA. There was also quite a bit of telling over showing which I don’t like but for YA it’s more understandable and tolerable.
The ending frustrated me and led to me dropping my initial rating because: Plot hole!!! It was just an underdeveloped part of the lore that left me unsatisfied.
Overall it was fun and enjoyable, providing some interesting lore about Pacific Islander mythology that I’d love to explore more of!
