Immediately pulled in by the mystery and characters! I loved the short chapters, it really helped propel the story and kept me reading for long periods of time.

I really enjoyed the flashbacks between past and present, as well as getting so many character perspectives while also still being able to get to know the characters on a deeper level! I  Looove a family saga and this was no exception.

The writing was beautiful, the mystery and family secrets intensely emotional, and the characters complex. This was an incredible debut and one that’ll be thought of often! I’d highly recommend if you enjoy family sagas, stories that dive into family secrets and the experiences of diasporas, or if you’re a fan of Brit Bennett’s novels
